All assessments completed by Priestley Psychological Services are discussed within a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meeting, in-line with NICE guidelines. We discuss the findings from each assessment in detail and whether the person being assessed meets the threshold for a formal diagnosis of Autism / Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC). Moreover, we discuss the advice and recommendations that go into the final diagnostic report to ensure the most helpful and appropriate guidance is provided to those supporting you or your child.

Katherine completed her undergraduate medical degree at the University of Nottingham Medical School in 1997 and worked as a junior doctor in Nottingham for a year. She then worked in various junior doctor posts in Australia (adult intensive care, accident and emergency, general practice and providing medical cover for a remote hospital in Queensland) for a year.
Katherine returned to the UK in July 1999 to train as a paediatric doctor in Nottingham, and worked in several sub-specialties including neonatal medicine and surgery, paediatric accident and emergency, paediatric neurology and neurosurgery, and community paediatrics. After passing professional examinations in paediatrics she took up a research post with the University of Nottingham. During this time she worked towards a DM degree and wrote several papers that were published in peer reviewed journals.
After finishing a 2 year research post Katherine decided to change course and train in psychiatry. She worked as a junior doctor in psychiatry in Nottingham for 2 years, passed the psychiatry professional examinations and obtained a higher training post in Nottingham and Derbyshire for 3 years. Katherine completed formal training in assessment of autism during this time and has been carrying out autism assessments as part of her NHS clinical work since then.
After obtaining her certificate of completion of training in child and adolescent psychiatry in 2010 Katherine took up a post as a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist in rural Lincolnshire.
She worked with a multidisciplinary team assessing and providing management for patients with a range of mental health conditions. Katherine is interested in Autism and neurodiversity and has attended many courses and conferences focussing on this area.
Since May 2023 Katherine has been working part-time as a consultant psychiatrist on an NHS inpatient psychiatric unit for children and young people with learning disabilities and autism in Sheffield. She also teaches medical students at Lincoln University during their psychiatry training one morning per week.
Katherine began providing consultation for Priestley Psychological Services in September 2022 and has been carrying out private autism assessments since March 2023.
